AMD laptop cheaper, performs way better, and has longer battery life than it’s intel counterpart.

Thoughts?

I’m sure Intel doesn’t care as long as people buy their shit, and why should they?

I’m looking forward to the next revision of Intel platform firmware (you can’t really call it a BIOS anymore…) where you can unlock higher memory speeds as a subscription service.

Imagine buying computer parts that are new enough that the warranty still applies…I think the only part in my gaming rig that was that new when I bought it was the video card.

Also, that video is 13 minutes and 35 seconds long - there is no excuse for it being two seconds too short.

RE: being able to make anything I want with their sponsor - I’m sure that no matter what I build with SquareSpace it will not make my parents proud.

I also feel like anybody expecting Intel or AMD to do something good for them is horribly deluded. These companies don’t give a fuck about you. Take the best of what you can get from whomever you can get it.

AMD: can overclock cpu and memory on B350 all the way through x570 chipset boards
AMD: all consumer CPUs are unlocked out of the box

Intel: only can overclock CPUs on the highest chipset (z-series boards)
Intel: only can overclock K sku cpus
Intel: can’t even use an XMP memory profile on a non z-series board

🤔🤔🤔

I can’t wait for Intel to change the 11th gen processors to only boot inside the local hours of 9A-5P on weekdays (as confirmed by NTP and IP geo-location - no network no boot) on their non-X and non-Z series motherboards.

Mister Taxi changed the thread title from AMD DESTROYS Intel in mobile market to AMD DESTROYS Intel.

From https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/processors/core/10th-gen-core-desktop-brief.html:

Your PC runs at its best when its components work great together. System RAM plays a vital role in helping to enable smooth, responsive performance. With select processors supporting the latest cutting-edge DDR4-2933 RAM speeds, you can be confident that your entire desktop PC platform will be able to offer exceptional responsiveness.

Somebody wrote that with a straight face.

The Gamers’ Nexus video covering this announcement from Intel criticized them for showing AMD old/Intel new parts and no information about how these parts compare to their current Intel counterparts.

Looks like the 3070 competitor (RX 6700) won’t release til Q1 2021

3080 tier cards (RX 6800 & 6900) likely October or early November

You went with Intel because they kneecap competitors? Weird flex, but okay.

no i went with them because i know their shit will Run Fast and that people optimize for intel willingly or not

like i acknowledge that they are doing is gross but good intentions dont make my computer go faster

in other news i’m excited for cheap ARM servers to become more of a thing
my websites would benefit from having lots of mediocre cores vs one really good one

I don’t feel like camping out in front of MicroCenter and engaging in hand to hand combat to get one of these cards, so it’ll be well into next year until supply at MSRP catched up, at best

That said, I think I’ll wait for a 3080 Super or 4000 series before I upgrade. My current rig is fine at 1080p and RTX on is still a meme.

Without watching the GN video, I’d have to say less than 5~6% is within the margin of error, and LOL and CS:GO are not really heavyweight titles.
