Good video about the CMP design.

Here’s the 3060 announcement: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2021/02/18/geforce-cmp/

I give this about three days before being cracked.

yea moore’s law is dead always delivers good analysis and speculation

thread head

He’s growing on me. I thought he was too speculative the first few times I watched him and then it turned out he was right.

xmfd @ the 3060 being equal to the 2060 super

thread head

Worse because it’s more expensive and less available than the 2060 Super was at launch

Withholding judgement on the value proposition here, but if it’s less than RTX 3070 performance, lacks a DLSS like feature, lacks decent RT support, and lacks a better encoder then I can’t see myself buying it for the same MSRP as the 3070.

Gpu availability suuucks right now

I’ve been in the market for a 30703080 since December or so and even with being in a drop notification discord I haven’t even been able to get one in my cart

Really kind of shitty of Nvidia to be allocating any silicon to dedicated mining cards in the middle of this shortage

stunt failed

Like, their statement is the silicon isn’t good enough for a gpu so they’re downclocking / undervolting it and that’s what’s being used in the dedicated mining cards. But if they can run, at all, why not bin them to a lower end gpu sku instead

Shits fucked and it’s going to wreck the second hand gpu market

stunt failed

already has

thread head

I’m interested in what this is going to do to the death march toward ever better/realistic graphics. If a significant portion of your core player base can’t upgrade their graphics cards, realistically, beyond a GTX 1060 (currently the most popular card on Steam) or GTX 1660 then how will that impact developers who want to release three to five years down the line? What changes will they have to make in their planning to account for that?

What impacts will it have for developers one year out from release on PC who have banked on their core player base having better graphics hardware? What changes/optimizations will they need to make in order to avoid running like dogshit on older than expected hardware?

perhaps more dynamic resolution switching

Alienware is incredibly boring, so that’s saying a whole lot.

Thanks for mentioning that though because it made me laugh at Dell not sending the Linus Tech Tips prebuilt gaming machine secret shopper to Alienware when she mentioned she wanted a gaming rig.

It’s like Dell knows and is embarrassed.

asrock’s phantom gaming line still sucks shit
